In March, four Cianbro apprentices headed south to Kissimmee, Florida, to compete in the ABC National Craft Championships. The team, who brought home one gold and two silver medals, included Dalton Mobley, Pipe Welder; Gavin Bailey, Structural Welder; Chris Langford, Lineworker Apprentice; and Adam Folsom, Pipefitter Apprentice. Additional Cianbro team members joined the competitors to assist with the event. Cianbro Industrial Technician/Mechanical Foreman Jason White served as the project manager for the instrumentation competition. Transmission & Distribution Craft Development Manager Jon Sacks served as the project manager for the lineworker event with the help of Lineworker Instructor Daron Hanson.

“Each of the four apprentices who came out to compete in the ABC National Craft Championship not only displayed that they are skilled craftspeople, they also upheld the values of being Cianbro team members by carrying themselves in a professional manner,” says Sacks. “I’ve been with Cianbro for about 30 years now, with more than 20 years helping develop the next generation of craft professionals. Seeing these young men and women, some of whom are coming right out of high school, learn new skills and mature as professionals, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. For these four team members, this is just the beginning. They’re apprentices now, but I’m confident they’ll become superintendents, project managers, or estimating managers, because I’ve seen it happen so often throughout my career.”
