Location:
Withheld Upon Owner Request
Completed:
2017

Scope of Work

Cianbro installed bundled conductor on the vacant side of existing steel lattice towers, new steel transmission structures, and bundled conductor at two existing substations.

Project Details

  • 138 kV Transmission Line
    • Installed and removed access / construction matting and erosion controls
    • Installed 10 miles of 3-phase bundled 954 ACSR conductor
    • Installed 10 miles of (1) .646” OPGW
    • Constructed (8) new steel structures on concrete foundations
    • Installed 1 mile of 3-phase bundled conductor, .646” OPGW, and 7#8 Alumoweld Static Wire
  • 345 kV Transmission Line
    • Installed and removed access / construction matting and erosion controls
    • Removed existing steel lattice tower and approximately 0.15 miles of existing 3-phase bundled 954 ASCR conductor and Static Wire
    • Constructed (4) new steel structures on concrete foundations
    • Installed 0.5 miles of 3-phase bundled 954 ACSR conductor, and 7#8 Alumoweld Static wire

Lean, Innovative, and Unique Project Solutions

The Cianbro team installed the 138 kV transmission line while the adjacent 345 kV circuit remained energized. Additionally, due to very limited construction access on the 138 kV conductor installation, the majority of work activities were performed with a helicopter including hanging blocks, pulling ropes, installing splices, dead ends, sagging conductor, installing new hardware and clipping in, and removing blocks.
