The Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors has offered congratulations to Cianbro for receiving the Merit Award for a commercial project over five million dollars at the 26th annual Excellence in Construction Awards. The Merit Award recognized Cianbro for the company's outstanding work on the Abiomed Expansion Project – a multi-phase expansion with training rooms, office and meeting spaces, commercial kitchen and cafeteria, and more on behalf of medical device provider, Abiomed.
Cianbro also took home a Spirit Award, which is given in recognition of outstanding teamwork, and support of fellow ABC members.
"The merit award is really an honor for the project and the various different phases that we’ve had so far,” said Project Manager Anthony Passmore. “Together as a group, we worked hard on those developments – working alongside the owner. It’s just a testament to the work that we’ve put in as a group, and all the planning up front. Being a design-build project put a lot on us, and working with the architects and getting owner buy-in was a great coordinated effort on everyone’s end.”
Anthony said that receiving the Spirit Award was a pleasant surprise. “We used 20 different subcontractors that are associated with ABC. That recognition was in addition to the high standards of safety and craftsmanship.”
Over 250 ABC members gathered at ABC's award ceremony in Waltham, Massachusetts to celebrate the very best construction projects that ABC companies have to offer. This year's applicant pool was particularly competitive, with each winner selected for the high standards of craftsmanship, safety and quality delivered by talented merit shop workers using the efficient merit shop approach.
"Our companies are committed to providing the highest quality work in a safe and efficient manner,” said ABC MA President Greg Beeman. “Tonight was a great time to recognize their achievements and celebrate the merit shop construction industry as a whole."
ABC’s Excellence in Construction Awards recognize the overall excellence in project execution, craftsmanship, safety, innovative elements and challenges, and client satisfaction. The Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors is the largest construction trade association in the Commonwealth, representing some 430 local general contractors, subcontractor, and supplier and associate companies that employ more than 20,000 workers throughout Massachusetts.
