Established in 1989 by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Environment, Health & Safety Committee, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program was developed and written by contractors, for contractors.
Almost 2,300 ABC contractor members applied for the STEP program in 2010--another new record! 571 ABC contractor members have earned the prestigious STEP Platinum status, given to those companies who display the highest levels of safety performance and commitment to jobsite safety.
On Thursday, May 19, at the Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine Awards Dinner held in Gray, Maine, Cianbro was awarded a National STEP Platinum Award for the company's outstanding safety performance in 2010. Cianbro Vice President Alan Burton, External Affairs Director Tim Walton, and Vice President of HR, Health, Safety and Environmental Mike Bennett were on hand to receive the prestigious recognition.
"This award is a symbol of the hard work and dedication that our team members display every day," said Mike. "Their commitment to working safely and maintaining a safe environment for all has been showcased by this award. On behalf of Cianbro, I want to thank each and every one of our team members/owners who believe in our Health and Safety Programs and, more importantly, practice safe work habits daily. Congratulations!"
