Corporate QA/QC Manager Charles Hall extends hearty congratulations to Team Member Jon Gliniewicz for a notable achievement: successfully passing the National Board “A” Endorsement Exam.
Jon is a member of the QA/QC Department and provides welding and non-destructive examinations on many “high energy” industrial jobs. He has been with the department since the early days of the Hornbeck Project and has provided inspection coverage in all three Cianbro Corporation regions. Prior to joining the QA/QC team, Jon was one of the many excellent welders assigned throughout the company.
The “A” Endorsement exam is administered by the National Board after an intense two week training session on the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code books. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is the industry leader for boiler and pressure vessel design and fabrication. The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (National Board) is the industry leader for repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels.
Charles said that the National Board “A” Endorsement is generally assigned to independent inspectors working on behalf of public safety. Those independent inspectors (known as Authorized Inspectors) are responsible for reviewing the work and certification that authorized companies, such as Cianbro, perform on boilers and pressure vessels. Recognizing the value of this highly specialized and relevant training and certification, Cianbro began sending our in-house inspectors to this course of study in 2003. Successfully passing the “A” Endorsement exam shows that the inspector has demonstrated the strongest possible commitment to the principals of performing our construction practices in conformance with industry (and in many cases Jurisdictional) specifications. It proves the inspector is capable and committed to making sure Cianbro strictly follows accepted practices while working on high energy projects. Cianbro is one of the rare construction companies that utilize this training and certification for company inspectors.
Jon joins a limited group of QA/QC teammates who have previously passed this exam: Adam Guiggey, Jeffrey Carver and Paul Smith. Congratulations!
