Cianbro Fabrication and Coating Corporation Awarded Contract in NYC

The famous Brooklyn Bridge in New York City is in the middle of important renovations, and Cianbro Fabrication and Coating Corporation has been a key supplier of repair steel at the project for about a year. As the renovations have progressed, project engineers have realized that fascia girders and diaphragms also need to be replaced.  The contractor on the Brooklyn Bridge Rehabilitation Project, Skanska, has contacted CFCC with a request for 280 tons of fascia girder and 30 tons of diaphragms. The work for the CFCC team will begin immediately and will provide backlog for a year. To put the job in perspective, the order amounts to more than a mile worth of fascia girders.

"This is work that we won in a competitive bridge market," said CFCC Estimating Manager Ted Swenson. "This award opens the doors to doing similar work in that neck of the woods. Historically, the New York City bridge market has been a difficult market for Cianbro to break into.  But there is a lot more of this kind of work in New York, and having this project on our resume positions us to secure more of that work."
