Despite a ferocious winter in Massachusetts, Cianbro team members are moving forward successfully in the effort to construct a new 775 foot single leaf bascule bridge to replace the century-old Bates Bridge which connects Haverhill and Groveland. Obstacles include more than six feet of snowfall, a persistent layer of ice that forms on the Merrimac River, and the necessity to work around the biological cycles of an endangered fish species. Project Manager Kevin Stepanick and Project Engineer Marc Caldwell discuss the team's accomplishments.
