Cianbro/Middlesex team members are approximately a week away from opening the spans of the new Brightman Street Bridge for the first time. Millwrights are finalizing the balancing of the east span this week, while electricians terminate control wire in the control house. The team is also erecting bridge grating on the SW span in preparation for deck placement on October 1, and crews will pave the westbound ramps this week as well. The first opening of the spans will be "an all day event," according to Project Manager Kaven Philbrook.
"It's been fun to watch the team members set their goals months ago, and then meet their goals," said Philbrook. "We're hitting it right on. We'll be putting traffic across the bridge this fall, just as we planned years ago."
