While Cianbro team members have landed on the cover of Crane Hotline magazine for the company's new Manitowoc 16000 WA crane, components of the massive new crawler are arriving from the manufacturer's plant in Wisconsin. It'll take 34 tractor-trailer loads to get to Cianbro's shutdown project in Hinckley, Maine but the newest crane in the company's fleet is arriving piece by piece. That's the word from Cianbro Transportation Supervisor Nick Arena, who says the extra reach that the 16000 provides will come in handy at the shutdown.
The first two counterweights showed up in Maine on Friday. The Manitowoc 16000 WA is the largest crane in the company's 61 year history, and the first to be purchased brand new from the factory.
"I'm obviously very excited to have the crane in the company," says Arena. "It's a big machine that's really kinda neat. I look forward to seeing it work."
