Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Connecticut recently announced the companies that have achieved safety recognition in 2010 under the Association's STEP Award program. Cianbro's Southern New England Team came away with a Platinum STEP Award, which is the program's highest level of achievement. To win an ABC STEP Award (Safety Training and Evaluation Process), a company must have an exemplary construction safety and health program that meets strict safety standards in 20 different categories. An ABC STEP Award reflects an organization's steadfast commitment to employee safety and health while advancing the construction industry's safe work practices.
The Southern New England Team continues to be committed to performing all work activities in a safe and efficient manner utilizing all of our company's safety processes and procedures to achieve a goal of zero incidents," said Regional Vice President Linc Denison. "I am proud of the team for being awarded the CT ABC Platinum STEP Award for a second year in a row."
STEP was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee to assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices and recognize outstanding safety training efforts. Each year, more than two thousand contractors of various sizes participate in the STEP program. Anne Kutscher and Bruce Brown accepted the Award on behalf of the SNE Regional Office.
