The latest shipment of refinery expansion modules is scheduled to cast off from Cianbro's Eastern Manufacturing Facility bulkhead in Brewer, Maine this afternoon. the ocean-going tug, Emma Foss, with the module laden barge, Columbia Boston, will depart Brewer at approximately 1:30 p.m. The voyage to Motiva's refinery in Port Arthur, Texas is expected to take about two weeks.
This is the heaviest load to be delivered by Cianbro's module makers to date. Three of the modules on this shipment are in excess of 900,000 pounds each. Among them is the largest and heaviest individual module to come out of EMF so far, weighing in at 940,000 pounds.
Meanwhile, the Marine Surveyor and the client's insurance underwriter on the project told Cianbro officials that this has been among the best loadout operations they have ever seen. Project Manager Scott Clements says, "I have all the confidence in the world that this will go smoothly."
