Congratulations to the team members at the Kibby Wind Power Project, who are constructing a new 115 kV transmission line and substation in northwestern Maine. The team has completed the first four miles of a 27.6-mile project, with conductors in place. Team members are continuing structure installation while the conductor lines are clipped in behind them. This work has been accented with the assistance of AIR2, a specialized team of transmission line workers who provide rapid installation of conductors and hardware from a helicopter. To date, Cianbro has 43,000 safe hours while working in very rugged terrain and extreme conditions such as temperatures this winter that got down to 40 below zero with high winds. Once complete, the project will provide enough electricity to power 50,000 homes, and will be the largest wind power development in New England.
