Preparations continue at the Eastern Manufacturing Facility in Brewer, Maine, where crews are preparing to load four massive refinery modules onto a specialized barge for transport to Port Arthur, Texas. Currently, Cianbro crews are getting ready to re-position several modules at the yard, which will free up space to move the prized cargo onto the barge. The shuffling of modules is expected to take place early next week. Actual loading of the modules will occur over the next two weeks.
The modules weigh up to 650 tons apiece. Crews will use a heavy duty, multi-wheeled platform to move the modules. Cianbro Project Manager Scott Clements says the operation is moving forward according to plan. He says the Brewer yard will take on an extra impressive appearance as the modules are moved closer to the front gate.
Cianbro is the first of four module yards in the U.S. and Mexico to deliver modules to the Motiva Refinery Expansion project. Once completed, the expansion will make the Motiva Refinery the top producer of petroleum products in the United States.
