Destiny USA works to provide greater access to disabled persons within the buildings of the future

SYRACUSE, New York - On November 8, 2008, representatives from Destiny USA, the Global Universal Design Commission, and the nation of Ecuador shook hands over a Memorandum of Understanding designed to provide greater access to disabled persons within the buildings of the future. The ceremony took place at Savannah Dhu, the New York retreat of Destiny founder Robert Congel. In recent weeks, Destiny and Cianbro have been working with technology partners Vela Systems, Motion Computing, and Autodesk to advance the concepts of Universal Design. The idea is to make sure that everyone, universally, especially the disabled, have full access to tomorrow's buildings. One concept for achieving that goal is to utilize Autodesk's technology, which manipulates 3D models to detect clashes within the physical systems of a planned building, and expand those models to detect areas that would be inaccessible to people with disabilities.  Ecuador is on board because of a national initiative to accommodate the 1.5 million Ecuadorans who are disabled. The participation of the Latin American nation is one more example of the growing credibility that the innovations of Destiny and Cianbro are generating.
