Larrabee Road 345/115/12.8 kV Site and Substation Construction

Scope of Work

Cianbro performed all site development and substation construction, including managing all engineering, procurement and construction (civil, mechanical and electrical work) necessary for the EPC contract for a new 15 acre, 345/115/12.8 kV substation, as part of Central Maine Power’s Maine Power Reliability Program (MPRP).

Project Details

  • Stripped 6,719 cubic yards of topsoil
  • Cut 48,456 cubic yards of material
  • Imported 107,184 cubic yards of material
  • Installed 343 foundations
  • Installed conduit and grounding
  • Erected 245 steel structures
  • Constructed a 90 feet by 40 feet control house and installed / outfitted all AC/DC equipment, cable tray, lighting, control cabinets, wiring, and terminations
  • Installed 345 kV yard equipment, including 6 circuit breakers, 15 disconnect switches, CCVT’s, lightning arresters, insulators, reactors, capacitor banks, and other miscellaneous equipment
  • Installed 115 kV yard equipment, including 14 circuit breakers, 42 disconnect switches, CCVT’s, lightning arresters, insulators, and other miscellaneous equipment
  • Fabricated and installed 6,734 linear feet aluminum bus
  • Fabricated and installed 8,300 linear feet of flex taps
  • Pulled and terminated 180,000 linear feet of control and power cable
  • Installed all fiber optic cables
