Biomass Conveyor

Scope of Work

Cianbro installed a 2,200-foot long biomass feed conveyor, becoming the first of its type in the Western Hemisphere. The continuous belt, standing 123 feet high, spanned over the entire mill with seven different inclines and five horizontal turns.

Project Details

  • Installed all conveyor foundations and structural support vents within the plants operating areas
  • Assembled, rigged and installed gallery conveyor sections ranging from 75 feet to 25 feet in length and up to 12 stories above the plant facility
  • Installed a single, continuous 42-inch conveyor belt and tracked it into the operation position
  • Installed the drive system and all electrical interconnections

Lean, Innovative, and Unique Project Solutions

The Cianbro team self-performed all core competencies to include concrete forming and placement, bent and support steel erection, rigging, welding, millwright work, electrical and start-up assistance, and pipefitting. Cianbro completed several heavy rigging challenges, which included lifting sections of galleries over an operating pulp and paper mill.
