The first four of Cianbro's Maine-made refinery expansion modules are in the process of being installed at the Motiva refinery in Port Arthur, Texas. Cianbro's Project Manager Scott Clements says he has confirmation of one module already locked into place on the refinery pad. That module came off the barge, Columbia Boston, on April 22nd and was transported immediately to its final destination at the refinery site. A second module was moved to within 20 feet of its final resting place, where crews removed protective caps from the pipe and followed up with other pipe-prepping.
Meanwhile, the barge and its tug, Emma Foss, left Port Arthur a day later, April 23rd. The crew is transporting two pressure vessels back to Maine, each weighing roughly 80,000 pounds. The tug and barge are expected to be back in Maine waters around the second or third week in May. Back in Brewer, team members are closing in on completing the next four modules scheduled for delivery to Texas. The next load should set out from Brewer during the first part of June.
