Heavy Metal at Brightman

An extensive period of heavy lifting is underway at the Brightman Street Bridge replacement project in Fall River and Somerset, Massachusetts. Among the latest impressive picks: The North Heel Girder of the South East Leaf. The Girder with the Trunion Hub assembly, Trunion Bearings and Pinion Rack weigh 350,000 pounds. The pick was made by utilizing two 4100S3 ring cranes, one mounted on Cianbro Flexi Floats and the other mounted on the Cianbro Respect Barge. The girder was lowered into the bearing housings, which were aligned to a precision of plus or minus two-thousandths of an inch.

Stay tuned for a slide show and video.
