Another Big Day at Brightman

The steel erection crew has set the final girder for the W-S ramp Connector. Weighing in at over 55,000 pounds, the 87 foot girder completes the portion of the W-S Ramp that connects to the East Approach.  Next up, the steel erection crew will begin preparation for the erection of the W-S ramp from the South abutment to Pier 5. Team members are continuing to prepare for the bascule span erection scheduled to begin at the end of July. Over the coming weeks, they will pre-assemble the control house frame so it is ready to set once the South East Bascule Heel Girders have been erected. At this time, the erection of the remaining portion of the W-S Ramp is scheduled to take place in the middle part of June. The crew continues to keep safety and production a top priority while completing this difficult work.
