Cianbro/Middlesex team members at the Niantic River Bascule Bridge Replacement Project in Connecticut have made considerable progress over the summer of 2011. The crews put plenty of focus on the approaches to the moveable bridge during the warm summer months, and now are looking toward a shift in focus to the new control house, track realignment, approach steel, and the main structure. Jeff Roig from Middlesex and Kris Ballard from Cianbro discuss the progress the team members have made over the past few months, and the prospects that the crews face during the upcoming winter.

In the spring of 2008, Cianbro and Joint Venture Partner Middlesex Corporation won a project to construct the underpinnings for a new bridge to replace the massive 50 year old Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven, Connecticut. That JV project is now complete, with many accomplishments on record, including a good safety record, a satisfied client, a good profit, and an early completion that allowed Cianbro Middlesex to give back a month to the owner. Project Engineer Marshall Goodchild talks about the final months of the landmark project.

As the final days of September passed, three base tower sections were being installed at the Spruce Mountain Wind Project site in Woodstock, Maine. Cianbro crews topped out the wind turbines the following week. These are the first of ten turbines to be erected at the project for the client, Patriot Renewables.

The tenth anniversary of 9/11 also became the date that the replacement for the old Brightman Street Bridge was dedicated between Fall River and Somerset, Massachusetts.
