In May, a large group of M.I.T. alumni traveled to the site of the picturesque Penobscot Narrows Bridge in Maine to hear Cianbro Project Manager Kaven Philbrook talk about the engineering magic that went into the span's design. Philbrook headed up the Joint Venture that built the bridge between 2003 and 2006. At the event sponsored by the M.I.T. Club of Maine, Philbrook joined fellow Project Manager Tom Doe of the Maine D.O.T. to describe the creation of the landmark bridge.

The organization is known as Jobs For Maine's Graduates, Inc., or JMG, and the program helps middle school and high school students to stay on the path toward a worthwhile education. Cianbro, which has supported the organization for years, has now added extra financial clout to JMG's mission. For every JMG graduate who hires on at Cianbro and stays with the company for six months to a year, Cianbro will donate funding to JMG.

The Cianbro team members who create the work package instructions for building Motiva's refinery modules are entering their work in a special competition. The work package engineers at Brewer's Eastern Manufacturing Facility use 3-D software to visualize the construction of the modules. That software is called Bentley's ConstructSim. Now Bentley has invited Cianbro's team to submit their work for Bentley's Be Inspired Awards

Cianbro's Maine-made refinery expansion modules have created quite a spectacle as they've rolled down the main thoroughfare in the coastal Texan town of Port Arthur. The massive modules were unloaded from the barge, Columbia Boston, in about half the time that had been set aside. As of Thursday, April 23rd, one module was already fastened down on the pad at the Motiva refinery.
